Super Strike Lures founder Don Musso has been creating lures for quite some time. Back in 1960 Don, a master carpenter by trade, a fisherman by love, began hand carving wood and designing the lures that we call Super Strike today. All his designs start out as wooden prototypes; they are fished and redesigned until they are perfect in action and balance. Being a carpenter, Don knew that wood was a good material for his lures, and also knew that wood greatly varies in density and that no two pieces of wood are exactly the same, which makes wooden lures inconsistent. Also, after time wooden lures begin to absorb water which throws off there buoyancy and action. Don needed a better more precise material to make his lures consistent in quality and action. He was sure that plastic could be better with good production methods and good quality control. With plastic, it is easier to be more consistent and exact if you take the time to try. He did, and today his creations are catching fish around the world.
