Default popular fishing theories

For example, does the bait really get pushed around by the wind?

Seems like for the past few days the bait (predominantly baby bunker) off RI has been on a steady march to the East, into the wind. I'm much more a believer that the bait goes where the bait goes and not much more. It probably moves to eat more then anything else, like most other fish in the sea.

How about black at night? While it's always a good bet, it's definitely not something I live and die by.
