Default Ernesto's whitewater

I've caught some good fish in some really spectacular whitewater. And I know I've lost some giants in dangerous, vicious whitewater, especially at the breachways. But I rarely have great fishing when it's as big as it is now, partly because of landing issues. Without being near the edge I have trouble successfully landing fish that I can't just drag up. The waves are beyond the stage where they help me land fish.

Sometimes I think half the appeal of fishing in big conditions is just challenging yourself as much as the possibility of big fish. I'm not really even convinced conditions this big are even that good for fishing anyways, nevermind the landing issues. I know Steve McKenna just did a presentation saying he prefers to fish before and especially after a storm, and I'd have to say I agree.

Going out in the peak of the storm just seems to not be worth the effort for me, other then to test myself, which I certainly enjoy...

Thoughts?
