I use circles and j hooks. I basically only fish eels as far as live bait goes. I like to use circles in places that are very boney and very fishy. In spots that have lots of submerged rocks/boulders, a good amount of bubbleweed or dropoffs and ledges I find that circles hang up and foul far less and give an advantage in these situations.
