Dave, I'm in no way one of the wetsuit experts, but I can tell you what I wear underneath everything. For my feet, I have some 2mm neoprene socks and some 1mm dive socks for warm days. I use the Cabela's Guide Tech wading shoes I listed in an earlier post of mine, but may try the NRS shoes mentioned already as I have heard some positive things about them. I don't wetsuit too late into the season, so cold is not too much of an issue. The water is always pretty warm so I just fill up if I'm cold. If it is cooler, I wear my UnderArmour Cold Gear shirt. I just go with shorts on the bottom half. The only time I was every truly cold was last July on Cutty. Wetsuited all night, then tried to take a nap after sunrise to wait for the ferry back to the mainland. A stiff NE wind kicked up and I FROZE until it passed and the sun really poked out. The memory of almost 12 straight hours of quality fish I had just experienced helped me get through the cold though. |
