One big advantage of a longer rod is longer casts and probable bigger plugs &
tins. I fish jettys and use 8ft St. Criox Ben Doer on a open beach 9 or 10 might be better, rember the bigger the rod the more effort I like the 8ft so I can spend more time fishing but I am not as young as I was that why I bought a boat,
