most rod manufacturers will provide a warranty on the blank for a long, long time, if not forever. this usually only covers the original owner of the rod. now, if you build your own rod, and you break the rod somehow, then what usually happens is that you have to strip off the guides, and the company will send you a new blank. the reel seat is pretty much done, since it is epoxied on for good.

you should read the warranty carefully. most rod makers will warranty the blank if it breaks thru a defect during the manufacturing process. if you break the tip off in door to your house, then you might be out of luck. with that said, there are quite a few companies that will replace the blank even if it broke due to your own clumsiness.
