Default Ff/gps

I had used a Humminbird Piranha for the past 2-3 years with mixed results. I had a lot of problems with connector corrosion. I'd go out sometimes and everything was good. The next trip it would cut in and out. I would have to fuss with the cable positioning to get it to work. I tried everything. Finally I got frustrated and I got an Eagle 250 with GPS and I love it. My time is too precious to screw around with stuff that doesn't work. I have a couple of different battery set ups. One uses 10 AA NiMh rechargeables in a waterpproof pvc tube with screw on ends that I made. It works for 6-8 hrs depending on whether I use the night light and at what intensity. The better set up is a Cabela's rechargeable 12v in a tupperware container. It seems to last for weeks. I have never been let down by it. The only drawback is it weights 7 lbs.
