Fright -
Sorry that you are so bitter
Just for clarities sake - I have never reported catching 40 lb bass in my yak - Hell a 40 lb bass in a kayak weighs as much as my yak-
As for the photo stuff - I have brought the camera in the power boat to take pictures with my son fishing- and i will take pictures of him on fish - or the occasional tuna - or other interesting stuff that we might see --but I find that the visual picture my personal experiences -burned into my memory - and the incumbent stories that result from the occasion is usually far better *
And as for a camera in the Yak - I don't bring it along - For two reasons - A - its really wet -and even in my dry box - I know that I am going to get it soaked - and B - and hopefully I don't sound like an ass here - but I fish for the personal pleasure - for the enjoyment of it - and really don't need to take pictures for me - and certainly not you.
I am confident enough in what I saw - what I did - when I did it - how I did it- that I don't need to take a picture - If someone else is there with a camera- at the ready - thats fine -but I am not going to keep the fish out of the water until I get my camera ready-
( and i actually made a point of getting the photo's from Sat -me in front of that rock and the surf - as I thought the scenery was spectacular - and wanted to show others - and made no effort to have anyone take a picture of the fish - nor do i think that anyone took a picture of a bass the entire day - while they did take pictures of the oddities that they caught - like a scup - a black sea bass - and other unexpected fish )
*When my Dad first taught me to fish as a kid - he used to say that we were going to "catch the day" and I firmly believe in that philosophy -
It is the experience - the time on the water -the scenery that you are able to view - the good times -the classic fuck ups- the bonding with whom ever you are with - that is truely what you are out there catching. - And per chance - should you be so lucky as catch a fish during that time- that is merely icing on the cake.
