Once in a while a bass is caught, but here in NJ, the fishing really doesn't get hot until Thanksgiving. I had my boat in and was running the ocean until Jan 15th last year, and it's only a 21 footer. Seas get a little rough, but if the bass are there....
Who knows what all this warm weather is going to do to the fall run.
I was planning a trip up to RI tomorrow thru Sunday. Thought I'd start in Newport area (never fished there) and work my way down to the southern beaches i usually fish (Pt. Jude thru Watch hill area). I really don't want to fish for 2.5 days in the rain. One day and night is OK, but with the long drive and unpredictable fishing, I'm gonna pass.
Had some friends in Montauk a few days ago. That place is not on fire either. 13 fish caught between 4 guys in 3 nights. Again, not worth the drive. If it's good anywhere next week, then I'll go. |
