The rubbermaid dishwashing bin with weed wacker cord glued to the bottom in the shape of horshoes is a very cheap solution. I think it's a Lefty Krey trick. Cut out two holes for the belt. You shouldn't be fishing a line long enough to tangle in the rocks if you're flyfishing the surf anyway
. The stripping basket tends to be more of a handicap then a benefit, but I'm a novice when it coes to flyfishing anyway. There are some tricks to safely hold loops of line in your hand without it tangling too. Seen it done but I can't do it.
