I know this is late but I just joined and have been reading a bunch of posts.
For early schoolies I like to use small Hopkins or other
tin with a bucktail.
Second favorite would be a small white grub or fin s shad with a light jig head.
Haven't fished in RI early in the season but those were killers on the cape.
