Tuesday tying with Ken Abrames I just wanted to post a heads up to everyone here that might be interested. As some of you may know, every Tuesday night during the winter Kenny Abrames organizes a free fly tying get together. This gathering has always been informal and very informative for everyone who finds the time to go.
He’s trying something a little new starting this Tuesday which is a 4 part course on traditional fly tying methods. He plans to run through the fundamentals of traditional tying methods with using all natural fibers. This is a great opportunity for people just getting started, as well as experienced tiers, to learn some very useful stuff.
He’s also offering help, for anyone who’d like it, on matching lines to your rods and some casting instruction. His fishing methods are more along the lines of traditional steelhead and trout fishing but they apply directly to fishing for stripers. Another tool for the toolbox, so to speak.
Of course all of this is completely free and anyone is welcome to join us. It happens every Tuesday at 6pm and goes straight through to mid April, at which point the format changes to going fishing. The tying sessions takes place at the URI East Farm campus address:

Building 75

Hope to see some of you there…
