I have some experience fishing around Charleston SC. As a disclaimer, I was there October through May so I don't know what happens in the area during the summer. Threading a shrimp onto a 3/4 - 1oz white jighead and fishing in the tidal area of the rivers was productive way to catch seatrout and redfish. Mud minnos on the back of jigheads worked well also. White curly tail grubs would also work, but not quite as well as either of the aforementioned. If you know someone with a boat, find an oyster bed or a grass bed, the seatrout and redfish like to position themselves around those areas.

I don't remember what the regulations on fishing were but unlike RI, you do need a liscense to fish in the sea.

Hope this helps
