the tri flex series was designed more for rods to be fished w/ braid. in the surf series, you might noticed the rods being a little tip heavy, as that is where the glass section is. the glass cushions the cast and hook set, while providing a nice load as well when casting. being a little top heavy it can wear on your a little, but i have learned to deal w/ that as i love mine. i have a custom i built on the 10' one piece model, which was discontinued this year by lamiglas. peteg felt it last week and can attest that this rod has more power than the 1205 and 1201m in the mid to butt section. i built mine to handle lures in the 2-4.5 oz range, primary to handle stuff around 3 very easily. i may look into building the 9'6" 2-piece model over the winter to leave in the car/truck. so, some love them, some dont like them. i like them.
their tri-flex boat series rods/blanks are excellent.
