I'll respond.

1. Why? Sometimes you need the 9 or 10 for distance/wind etc. Agreed you don't need much in the way of a rod to lift them but it's not like the lifting is much of a challenge even on an 8wt.
2. Agreed
3. I use 20 flouro all the time - helps prevent those little teeth from sawing
4. Why? It's a hell of alot more challenging to hook one blind than throwing into a pod of raging bones?
5. Defintely agreed
6. More like 4x in my opinion
7. Matter of opinion - statement too much like a purist for my tastes
8. defintely agree
9. WHY? Who releases bonito? That is one of the tastiest treats around
10.If you can afford it and you burned alot of fuel -

In actuality:
1) I too use a 9 & 10wt. for the same reasons.
2) I wouldn't go over a 350gr.
3) Tippets to 20# as well, but I'll use mono as well as fluoro.
4) I like chasing them on top.
5) Won't cutoff a boat, unless maybe they cut me off
6) I've never caught a shore caught bonito
7) I'm a slave to the yellow mushy.
8) General areas OK to report.
9) I do try to use the barbless, but not always.
10) I have no $$ for guides this year. Sucks trying to position the boat and cast at a school
