Well with it being Valentine's Day tomorrow and I think the turnout could be smaller which is expected I think we'll have our "open tying night". I would like to see some of the people who might have some stuff of their own start to bring some materials for flies they can tie. We have covered some great stuff the past few weeks so if you have anything to use for tying any of the flies we've done you could do them. If not we still have materials and I will be doing my Big Deceiver tomorrow due to an order I have for 2 dozen I may as well get going on them. Terrance will be tying next week so like I mentioned I will be doing one fly tomorrow and maybe everyone else could just tie something they have learned or already know after that. Ideas would be great guys just let me know so we can have materials ready for what we've already done.
See everyone tomorrow night
Thanks

Default Feb 14th Light Night

Well the Valentine's Crowd was light! Brian, Dave, Mike and myself managed one fly and had some good laughs and great stories from the past from Dave. I'm already looking forward to next week even though I think the Newport Club Meeting is next week we will still tie and who ever shows up shows up. See anyone who can make it next week and thanks for hanging out Brian, your always a tremendous help to me and the SWE.
Thanks guys

Corey sorry i had to miss the class lastnight...seeing as i'm working on getting married (for the third time)in the fall and kinda want to keep her happy (after all she did change the wedding from during deer season and is letting me go fishing the week we get married in maine AND i get to fish on our honeymoon...that will be in the prenup !!!) it was the least i could do!!! I and by saying I i also mean jack will be there next week for sure!!! Man that show was great i sat with steve farrar the whole time and learned alot...hell brad buzzy even taught me a couple of things about the crease fly! not to mention that 50% off table! Jack is on vacation now and he was barely on the road to lake placid when he called to ask me for a web site that showed fly patterns so he can tie while hes away...i can'nt wait to see what he ties after skiing allday and has a few glasses of wine...it might be interesting i'll let you know..he's also really hot on chasing tarpon this year so i hope you have some time and or connections?!

Ray,
No worries I sat with Brian all afternoon today and finished the order I had and also we managed to try a "Fat Head" which I need to run through a few times before I attempt it with you guys because I need to find a quicker and much more efficient way to get it done. Its done in a bunch of steps and can take some time to get through but I'll iron it out soon. Man I think we should have Brian tie them for the class his flys are unreal and everyone is really taking well to tying flies its great to see.

I also PM'd you Ray if you didn't get it. The store has your corporate CC you left behind so don't get a new one yet if you already haven't. Feel free to call them Monday but its up front in the register. See you guys soon!
Corey

Corey,

I suggest that you give Johnny Raz a call, he'll serve up a bunch of tip's for tying the Fat Head. If you can wait a weak, I'll be able to help out with that fly as well. I do like the Fat Head Idea because it teaches an entirely different way of creating a large body fly.

Maybe I can teach John's Air Head and we can call it a Softex night or something.

Later,

Murf

Well after a long week its time again. I think tomorrow will be another night of open tying. Bring what you can nd just twist up some bugs. I'm just about out of content at this point and have just way to many things on my plate to plan nights ahead for this class. One a more exciting note Bill Murphy, owner and distributor of E-Z Body Materials is coming down next week for the evening and will be letting us know next week what he'll be tying but it sounds like a good time for sure. Durbin has mentioned that he might try tying Steve Farrar's Deep Powder Flounder if anyone might want to watch that fly and maybe tie along. So if you have some stuff bring it along if not we'll still have the boxes of tools and materials out for people to pull from which is never a problem. Hope to see everyone tomorrow night.
Thanks!

Default Huge Flys That Night

Ray the flies you did at home are looking freaking great! Why not use this one for tunaroo! The one I think we all saw you tying at about 6pm. This thing should catch anything over 100lbs with ease. I had fun guys great time seemed to be had by all. Thanks to everyone who stuck around to clean up. Thanks

Default Fun Images From Last Week

A few more images from the class last week! Watching Rob twist up a fly is great. The video I took for about ten minutes has Rob explaining his "meteor balls".....if anyone remembers that he claims as a kid him and his fellow jocks well they would light a soccer balls on fire then kick them around the soccer field. No wonder he fishes in the weirdest spots in the worst conditions. Great stuff I'll have to add the video to the website tonight!
