Default free fly tying classes

Anyone interested?

This would probably be more of an open event. Teach what you know, learn what you don't sort of set up.

Captain Corey Pietraszek would probably be leading the class.

Once a month sound good? More often?

Let us know.

Thanks,

Pete

Thumbs up Class In Session Baby!!!!

Pete,
That sounds great! I'm open to ideas on any of this guys. After seeing the turn out being very light on nights we charged for the classes over the years, I think trying to do a free night once a month or maybe even every two weeks depending on what people think would be great. I would like to offer this to people just starting out or who may be very limited on tying saltwater flies. This will be an All Saltwater Flies Class as I don't fish much for trout nor do I ever twist any bugs up for it. It could be nice to also just have a place to go and hang out for a few hours and maybe shoot the breeze as well. Anyone who also might have stuff and want to just tie flies is more than welcome too! If anybody wanted to bring a kid along who they think could handle a class or wants to learn more about fishing and flies please feel free. I have an extra vise for maybe one or two people if needed. I also may have a limited amount of extra tools that could be of use to some people as well. Any ideas or input on any of this I'm all ears. I was looking to maybe start after Christmas maybe sometime during the first week of January until April...Thoughts?

We could start this before Christmas as well if I get enough people to jump onboard! Please PM me directly if you have any questions or you can call the store and ask for Pete. Looking forward to hopefully getting someone down at the store to learn the craft or just help me learn on how to become better at teaching people how to tie flies

Corey

Pending work schedules, I am in.

I would vote for bi weekly. Once a month won't give beginners enough practice or instruction between classes.

I tie a few nights a week as it is, but tying solo is very different from tying among others.

If we could pick a constant night, say every other wednesday night, that would help people plan and may boost attendance. I know I need to plan things pretty strictly this time of year into the Winter and Spring.

Looking forward to the announcement.

Well here it is guys/gails. I have what I think will be Wen or Thursday nights open after January 1st. I'll watch here to see what night works best for anyone who is interested but I think Thursday is best for me but I'll make another day work if need be. I think a night for just tying flies would be great and I bet everyone will be more than happy to help others who might be just starting out get up to speed. I think a time frame of say 6pm or 6:30pm might work this way people who have to drive or might be getting out of work could make it. Also, it will allow us to not get in the way of regular operations taking place in store. I will have a coffee pot down there for anyone who drinks as much as I do all day long and they have a small fridge for "soda" and like mentioned before we will have plenty of materials and or tools around for anyone who might not have anything or might be new to the game. Bring what you have and I'll mention on here what I'll be tying and what it requires a few days prior to the night and if you want to tie that fly great if not please feel free to tie something else or whatever. Thoughts?

Free Tying Night: Thursday Nights
6:00 till 9:00 pm or (whenever you need to leave)
Jan 3,10,17,24
Feb 7,14,21,28
March 6,13,20,27
April 3,10,17,24

Sounds good Corey. Keep me in mind if you need a hand or if you'd like me to teach a class or 2 or 3. I think that this is can be a great way to learn or share a little something in a loose social manner.

Later,

E-Z Murf

Murph,
Your more then welcome. I think it would be a great chance for everyone to get better with some of your stuff as well. I love your patterns and I think it would be great to have someone who knows both sides of fly fishing like yourself. I look forward to seeing you one or more of the nights mentioned and let me know what you think you might want to tie so I can make sure we have it in the store and I too can make sure I have the materials for everyone if they don't already have it. Stop by!
Corey
