Default some tips

Here are some close spots, I got a boat & guide for 2 1/2 days and 3 on my own. Right at pelican Cove they have sm boats for rent(you can't go far) but you can catch jacks and see bones if you set up near some shallow water. There are Natl parks, the John pennekamp Coral Reef Natl park(Atlantic Side) and across from that is Tarpon Basin- on the Gulf side...that is towards Key Largo, maybe 20 minutes and is beautiful. That might be a good bet this time of year for a chance at a Tarpon and bones. Also, if you can do a guide when you first get there (try not to go if it is blowing to hard...hard to cast and hard to see, this time of year you get a Northerly prevailing wind), go to Bud & Mary's Marina www. budnmarys.com , they have a significant group of guides that can take you out.
Hope this helps, best of luck, I wish I was going too! cb

Default Tips

Thanks for the heads up! I cann't wait to go! as soon as i get back i'm headed to maine the next weekend and then to mass. to hunt some Turkey...then its time to rip some lips locally. I took a charter trip a couple years ago out of miami and the guys were total asses...yelled at me to put the rod back in the rod holder and fight the fish sitting on side of the boat..even though i had over 2 grand in custom rods and reels on the boat and they had my credit card number...they were worried i'd drop the rod overboard during the huge battle to come, oh that fish a wopping 3 # dorado..man what fight on an 80 pound rig!? so its clear to me that i can use all the advice on picking a guide i can get!
