Thumbs up Short of inviting Joe Cordiero over for dinner...

Call the S\\'E shop and order "Striper Moon" and/or "A Perfect Fish"...
You'll be way ahead of the cerebral power curve and have no regrets!

If you ever have the profound opportunity to see Joe tye...that's the frosting on the flatwing cake!

SC, go on stripermoon.com and go to the fly tying archive. Find the east coast ghost. Thier is a nice step by step with pics that should give you a good feel for tying a flatwing. Larger ones wich are my favorite are simply going to be adding more feathers in the tail that get progressivley longer.

Default Just a thought

Has anyone tried tying a Flatwing with wider hackles to give the fly a wider profile? I think that I'll try one and see what happens. FishHawk

Thumbs up Wider Feather

In the Monomoy special I'm tying for the swap uses a wide "Silver Doctor " feather , I see this wider feather enhacing the color combination of the bright yellow and white. WIder feathers ion the flat will give a wider profile but adds to more color and or significant lateral line. I like to add when I want to make profile for the body leading in to the tail feathers.

Hope this helps !
