Default Gummy...

Gummy minnows, gummy eels, etc. What do you all think of these? anyone ventured to "tie" them? How's it done anyway?

I have made some attemps at this. I found that if I take a peice of 30mono and use this to support the tail it tends to work a bit better. Any other hints would be great. That said, this weekend I used my the ugly ducklings from my first attempt on a school of blues, they were not discriminating.

I use the thick stuff and have had better results than with the thin. It's still difficult to work with this stuff but the bluefish like the flies. FishHawk

Sili-skin is a little tricky to work with. I attach sili-skin to the backside of the fly first. Then I stick the corners of the frontside to my pointer and middle fingers prior to flipping the material over the fly. This way I have full control over making sure the material is in the correct position before I press both sides together.

Here is a sample of my baitfish pattern. I use sili-skin in pearl (thin and apply two coats of softbody to the fly).

Default sili skin fly

pnutbunker
That's a great looking fly, the tail up so the point rides into the pattern is a good look, I bet the pattern swims better that way too. I also hear that people make it upside down, a la "Clouser style, running the weight at the bottom of the stomach but I think I like your layout the best.
Thanks for posting, cb

cb2fly,

Send me a PM with your name and address and I'll send you a couple of the baitfish.

Thanks for the replies.
