Default kayak fishing and wood

Very few guys I talk to fish wood from the yak. I'm surprised by this. I guess part of it is the price and maybe part of it is because many guys just like to troll but still I see very few guys fishing wooden plugs from the yak. I know casting distance is not an issue so maybe stand by plastics fill that gap. Any opinions

swanny-

I do all the time-I know on NEKF they don't speak of it much but everytime I head out I have an assortment of Gibbs Pencil Poppers and some Plugcasters ranging from 1.5 to 2.5 oz.

great for launching!...and if something goes wrong-you paddle over and pick up your plug!

I always have one loaded on a rod with a wire leader ready to launch when a blitz happens

I've learned how the fingers get when your upon something like that-don't work well

I've also tried Needles(with little success) and swimmers (with better success)...but always the pencils-I love them!

Peace-Andy

I tossed a lot of wood from the kayak. I did better with eels though.
