Exclamation Being a Good "Roll" Model...

Regarding a SitOnTop "self rescue"...
Stuff (cooler, gear, rods, etc) onboard will adversely contribute to the righting of an inverted boat...MORE weight = increased difficulty points...
Unteathered item$...LEA$H IT or LO$E IT!
Reaching over the top of the Yak to roll it upright could be challenging...
Alternatives...
*Reaching under the boat, grabbing a far side handle and pulling down while simultaneously pushing up the near side to roll it over...
*Pulling on a line loop that runs over the boat and is attached to a far side ring while stepping downward into a short stirrup loop attached to the near side will cause a rolling motion that should right the boat...

Either way...
Cold Water sucks...Hypothermia really SUCKS!
Water temperature + exposure time + wind chill = overwhelming (without the proper anti-exposure gear and clothing)...
DON'T short change survival gear and tactics!
Practice Self Rescue and have a Plan...
The life you save could be your own!

Default as long as no one else wants to chime in...BDB's...

Regarding Boyancy Displacement Bladders...
Sit-ins...pungos, etc, handle better if the extra weight of stuff is stored behind the seat...
The space up in front of the foot pegs is best filled with an inflatable bladder.
If you DUMP and the boat takes on major gas, the bladder will lend floatation and displace a large volume that would otherwise weight what feels like a gazillion poundz...which can eventually be evacuated if you have a bilge pump and/or bucket and/or sponge...in descending order of effectiveness.

Default SOT Self Rescue

Its a good idea to have a paddle float and a rescue sling on board at all times and a good dry suit is your best insurence in cold water.
