Default mtk yak

so im thinking of getting a yak for mtk but i need input on what models or types would be best. specifically it needs to be fast enough and with limited drag resistance so to allow me to paddle the rips all day. also it needs to be able to handle rips and large wakes with out flipping. it would be good if it would allow me to use a drift sock to or be designed so that it doesnt live completly at the will of currents and winds. this likely leaves alot of options but i dont mind looking around and im sure other people have insight on other specifics i want to consider

thanks

Default Hobie

Hey Arden,

I'd check out the new Hobie line w/ the mirage drive. Being able effectively move the yak while still maintaining the rod in your hands must be great.

Check 'em out:

Here we go again.......

Let's all just agree to disagree

That we all have our personal preferences

That the one you have is the best

And what say we agree that yellow ones are the best

Arden - check out theis site as well

New England Kayak Fishing
Great resource Bob, I'm going to agree ** That the one I WISH I had is the best ** Seeing as I'm in the same boat... err kayak as Arden at this point without a kayak to call my own.

Arden, You can try any of mine you want brother The real truth is that there are a ton of boats that will work for a guy like you. They all have slight advantages and disadvantages over each other with the exception of one - the hobies! I've paddled alot of boats. Fished or owned almost all of the "mainstream" fishing yaks and at least tried out most of the rest. If your wallet is feeling the love get a Hobie revolution - I say revo for you because you can slap that puppy in the back of the tacoma and off you go - If you want a bigger boat than get the adventure. These boats are in a class by themselves and nobody who is a serious kayakfisherman can argue against their advantages. Try one out - mine if you want, and you will be convinced - besides don't you want the added distance they afford you to chase some of the pelagic critters off RI?
