Default fishing bunker

just got in from the cape had a pretty good night 5 fish all in the range of 14 18 lbs but i have 1 question i was fishing fresh whole bunker and nothing then i chunked small pieces with no weight and within 1,hr 1/2 i had all may hits is it because the fish were to small to take whole bunker or whati furger a 35 inch bass can suck down one of these foot long dinners.

maybe it was a tide change or shift in current that made the diff. I've seen small fish eat some giant bunker....

Agreed....Saturday, me and a friend caught 13 stripers between 15 and 20 pounds, live lining huge bunker, and everyone of them swallowed entire thing. We had to keep them moving to interest the fish, if we threw a whole, dead bunker in, they did not touch it.

A 25" fish will eat a whole bunker, or try to anyway. Dead as bait works very well but you need to be precise. Liveling works great when it works and will allow you to be a little less precise about bait placement. But isn't always the answer. I've seen fish refuse both kinds of offerings. Chip played it right. He recognized what they wanted and how they wanted it and cashed in. Everytime can be different so be flexible
