The Oriental, NC Rotary Tarpon Tournament was held this past weekend. 57 boats participated with 13 tarpon landed by 10 captains/anglers. Three boats landed 2 fish each and 7 boats landed one, making it a tight tournamnet. My boat recorded one fish landed and released, an estimated 80 pounder, by Don Peters of Thomasville, NC. Officially we placed 8th in the tournament with the tie breaker being the time the fish was landed.
Our tarpon fishing will continue into September and I have a few open dates. You can also combine your tarpon trip with giant red drum fishing making it a great "big game" experience.
