Default sealing

What do you guys use to seal the wood, and what type of paint do you recommend this is my first year making plugs. Also do you get wire from home depot for the center or njtackle. thanks for the reply. I could use any information that has worked for you or anyone else. I have been going old school and carving plugs

I use 308 1/16 ss tig wire, you can get it from any welding shop but nj tackle is a great site....I use val oil 50/50 with mineral spirits
