Default stuck on squid

gotta move on to mackeral or something soon, I've had a few duds lately but the smaller one in the front is really interesting, I've been fishing fairly shallow areas with a lot of reefs, bouncing some bucktails occasionally but I wanted something that I could work slower, this plug is 2.5 ounces so it's leaded up and really sails, it can be worked like a pencil but what is amazing is that as soon as the retrieve stops it heads slowly but directly vertically for the bottom, a slight tug or even better a short sweep sends it back toward the surface(the way a needle rises in the water column when tugged on) sometimes with unpredictable darts, so I can cover a lot of water horizontally with it's castability and work it up and down through the water column very easily and it stands nearly up and down through the retrieve, my first time throwing it the top was bobbing around too much so I went home and drilled it out and added a little lead shot, now it's perfect, I threw it for a while this morning late and was thrilled at what I could make it do, it's like fishing a needle but vertically, I guess time will tell but I plan to throw it a lot and see if it's desirable, I also need to try to recreate more of them before I lose this one, I want to try some different hook locations, I thought it would lay flatter in the water but I'm glad that it doesn't the hook is up slightly to allow me to work it close to the bottom without hanging up..
