Default Friday May 25 - Upper Bay Bunker Madness - Worm Hatch -

On the water by 5:15 - ran up the middle of the bay with the Shads - but got very little looks / attention

Found no birds workin on fish all day - seems as if they must be on holiday

Found a really nice worm hatch going on - and got to watch acres and acres of bass crashing / slurping worms

Jenks was able to crack the magic code - and get some of their attention

Jumping minnow and the giant " doc" got some attention - but got no love on the fly rod

Played with these fish for the better part of an hour - where there were very few - read that no - worms left after the bass

Moved further up the bay - and found huge schools of bunker swimming unmolested - and none of the damn seining boats in site

Amazing just how much water that these bunker can push

Picked up a few more bass along the way - ( and we avoided the blues that were starting to have a field day )

Great weather - great day all around

It was pretty cool to be working out on the back deck of the house I'm working on and seeing schools of Pogies all day.

Some came within casting distance but nothing.Snagged a few.Its been awhile since I just sat and chunked.Something different to do.

RRabiner,
I was out early Friday morning as well. Started with spooks over some high spots. Lots of fish giving us short strikes but managed to land a couple up to 16lbs. Saw the pogies everywhere but they weren't unmolested although they appered to be at first. They seemed to be just moving along but when I cast in and snagged one the bass came out of no where to intercept my pogy. A bunch more were just ripped off my hook. Managed to land one 17lber that way. Really cool to watch the bass chase the bait down from above on the bow of the boat. Not every school of bait worked the same way though. Stopped trying once a bunch of other boats joined in. We all semed to drive the bait down after a while. Saw the worms too. Seemed like they were always near the schools of pogies too (I wonder???). Probably happened again today but I decided to avoid the mob of holiday weekend boats and get some work done around the house. Maybe I'll try again Tuesday. Nice pictures.
Tom
