| Ouch. Rough day. I hate high barometric pressure when fishing. Give me clouds and approaching low pressure any day over a building high. But, I always go when I can go. I'm going to predict we can vertical jig bluefins off that new reef next year, if they return... |

| Seems like I made a sound decision to stay home and work rather than fish. Maybe today will be productive on the water.

| talk about a building high - we should have a few nice days coming up But yesterday it really built up much faster than I expected - The run back home across the front was remenicent of my sailing days - a firehose reach - spray just blasting up at you - and where Foul Weather Gear was necessary - ( Jenks preparation is the key ) The run around Brenton into Castle Hill was really interesting - with a big following sea - that was built even bigger by the outgoing current. |

| How was it today, I never made it out, chained to the computer and my research paper.

| I managed to get a small blue and an even smaller schoolie this morning before dawn, under some lights. Lots of blue fish in the lights, but they were picky and the bass on the shadow lines even more so. Still, beats getting skunked.

| One of the things that people need to think about in even semi offshore trips - is proper foul weather gear Getting wet / cold is no fun On a short day trip - you can bear it for a while But 20 + miles off shore - and getting soaked - cold - with the breeze on quickly saps the mental faculties very quickly Years of offshore experience ALWAYS Pack the FWG gear And put it on early |

| I've spent a good chunk of my adult life at sea, usually WAY out to sea, and that is about as sound a bit of advice as you can give. Never assume anything and always be prepared. Things change in a hurry out there.
