Default Hey Fright...

Sorry about the confusion ,

As Peter said the forums haven't changed at all. I'd bookmark this url:

http://www.saltwateredge.com/forums/index.php

That should eliminate any problem. Actually, all the exact same information (as per threads) are still available on the homepage if you just scroll down. The only difference is that they are not "squished" to the right. We thought this might make them easier to read. Hope this eliminates some of the confusion regarding the homepage and I hope the fishing picks up.

Thanks for the constructive criticism.

I am sure it's me, and there are people still catching out there, but a fall run....... no way....no longer believe in it......this is what happened last year too. This has been the worst fishing I have had all year, and I have been fishing with a guy who has fished for 30 years, and he is in agreement.
Just some ideas to chew on, if what you're doing is not working, you need to change. I see it all the time, fisherman wait for the fish to adapt to their style and not the other way around. We all know their is planty of bait around, and some big bait hanging way up in Providence, it has to eventually drop out, and when it does, you need to be ready. Will it come out all at once, or will it spend time in the bay for the big girs; to hone in on it? Dont know, but thats what I am thinking about and planning for. This time of year, its hit or miss. I been averaging 2 nights a week in the bay and have mostly blues and a few marginal keepers. No bass at all in 2 weeks! I will be venturing out more to the reefs in J and N as well the rocks in Narr. Migrating fish will be coming by and I hope I'm around. I do think the migration will eb slow due to teh warm weather and bait. We'll see!!!

Thanks for the input Jimmy...... If it was just me getting skunked, then fine, we all know I am still a fishing moron, but I know about 6 guys who have not caught anything in almost 2 weeks, and three of them have fished for 20 to 30 years!!! They know what there doing. Hell, one guy I know is a fish magnet....they practically jump into his arms when he goes.....he is so sure there is no fish anymore, he put all his gear away. Cleaned, polished, and packed away for the winter, and he has been fishing for 30 years. has albums full of fish he caught , and only takes pics of 30 plus pounds. He is amazing, and has not caught anything in two weeks either...so??? Don't know, but from every person I know, they have given up. But, thanks again anyway, good luck out there.

I am very much of a newbie with only a couple of seasons under my belt-all I can say is don't give up. Each year I have told my wife "this is my last trip" in October, but get drawn back out in November (even after thanksgiving). I am originally from Colorado and am totally fascinated by the surf...As a result I have gotten out in some of the snottiest conditions. First year, hooked a good fish in big surf and couldn't turn it. Tightened the drag (I know, I know) and snapped 30# braid with ease. So I upgraded to 50#. The next year hooked a fish in the pouring rain at a breachway, again couldn't turn it. Tightened the drag (I'm a slow learner) and it straightened two of the tail hooks on my plug.

Both experiences occured during daylight hours, and probably do more to bring me back than the few decent keepers I've caught since.

The Rhode Island shore is pretty spectacular-I can think of a lot worse places to not catch fish.

Jarlath,

You might also try Cahoon Hollow, a bit steeper walk down, but has been good to me. (My inlaws live 1.5 miles away)

Hey Frightnight,

Yes, I skunked out on bass as well. If not for a few blues it would have sucked. But we didn't go upper bay where the bait is either. But the fall run is yet to come and hopefully they won't head south of the block and miss us completly or we get some stormy weather when they do start to migrate. My hopes are that with so much bait this year that we'll have something to hold them here for a while. Water temps are still at 65 degrees I don't believe there moving south yet. Be patient! How times change. Two years ago you couldn't catch a fish. Thanks to swe forums your now a fisherman with a couple shutouts.

LOL,,,, some great responses to my thread.........thanks to all of you.
Trust me, I am not frustrated like I was last year. I get it a little better than then, and I can't complain at all. If I don't catch another fish this year then, oh well, I caught a lot of fish this year, and have nothing to complain about. I started the year with my goal to catch my first 20 pounder, and hoping I would reach that goal. I caught six 20 pounders this year. Now, as you can expect, I want a 30. ha ha. But, not holding my breath on that one. So, to get back on track.........not complaining about my season at all, and have done as well as I have from all the info I have gotten from this forum, and from fishing with people I have met in the trip sharing forum, which by the way, was a great forum to start. I just keep hearing how the fall run is, and last year, everyone said, it passed us by. Now this year, I am hearing the same hype, and because of the bait, it will be great...... Yet, don't know of anyone that is catching anything, with the exception of a few guys that post their pics here, but that is a handful a guys out of how many fisherman? So, we will see if I am proved wrong. Won't be the first time, ha ha, so .......
"NO FISH", I am holding you to your prediction. Just kidding. I may go out this weekend, or maybe Monday, since I have the day off, cuz it's the start of my vacation week, but, going to Florida for a week, so my luck, if there is a fall run, it will start and be over the week I am gone. OK, if I go out this weekend, I will let you all know how I did, and post pics of anything I catch. If I catch the monster, I will eat crow, and have you guys over for a late season striper cookout. Good luck all.

If you want that 30,40, or 50 get out there this is the month maybe not for numbers but for quality. Last year I had fish over 30 up untill Dec 10 so with the weather and water the way it is we have a long way to go. So get after it and beat up that water the more time your out the more you'll learn.

wowow. Dec. 10th? Thats amazing. Man, if I could fish till then, my off season would be nothing. I have spent a lot of time lately on the water. Every other day for 2 weeks, and 8 to 12 hours at a time, and still nothing. I have been fishing with veterans too, and nothing for them also. I have been doing so bad lately, I had to take this week off. Last year I did catch a 17 pounder the last day I fished, on Nov. 18th, I think it was. Last year, a 17 pounder was huge for me..lol . Well, thanks for the push Rob. If it is somewhat ok weatherwise, I will try to get out Sat, Sun, or Mon. as long as the weather is not killing me. Thanks again guys.. Dec. 10th huh? wow.
