Food for thought on the "Fall Run" - the fish are still solid up in CC Bay and while I'm sure some of them have hit the bricks, none of the tell tale signs that its almost done have showed yet.
Normally by this time we are seeing the migration patterns forming up there - but hasn't happened yet - to me that's great news.
Some years there a little late on their arrival - other years, like this one, the h20 stays warm and they leave way late -- my guess is its going to be WAY, WAY late this year.

The fish are still around... I had about 3-4 consecutive night getting skunked at my regular holes in RI... Sat down read some books, compared my notes from the last couple seasons... and decided to change the type of area to fish... to make a long story short... since last thursday night I have been in a school of fish, granted most all in the 20-28in range, but LOTS. Tusday night my bud and I each probably unhooked 10 fish a piece in 3 hours... and we both lost a monster fish...

As most are still fishing the outer waters, getting slammed with the big swells lately, the hole ive been fishing, I don't even wear my dry top... its been 7 days and the millions of silver sides and p-bunker are overwhelming at this one same spot.

Truth be told, I AM AMAZED I haven't seen a single person other than the 2 of us fishing this spot... As I am still a strong believer, whether the bait is around or not, stripers are on the move south... and have been for the last couple weeks... the difference, I think there are a large number or BIG fish still coming down from the cape... I heard reports from guys in boats and from shore catching 40lbs + from wellfleet to westport... all in the last couple days.

Im going to stick it out this season later than normal, to justify "the RUN"... Id keep at it guys...

GOOD LUCK and tight lines.

I have been doing so bad lately, I had to take this week off. Last year I did catch a 17 pounder the last day I fished, on Nov. 18th, I think it was. Last year, a 17 pounder was huge for me..lol . Well, thanks for the push Rob. If it is somewhat ok weatherwise, I will try to get out Sat, Sun, or Mon. as long as the weather is not killing me. Thanks again guys.. Dec. 10th huh? wow.
The other advice I would offer is when you do catch write it down in a detailed log book, this is a key to being successful, wind derection, tide stage, moon stage, water clarity, bait, water temp, swell, swell derection and other info after some time you'll see patterns and you'll become much more consistent.

Default Fishing or Bird Hunting?

I'm thinking of giving up a weekend of Bird Hunting in Norhwest Ma/Vt to see if my luck can change. Any updates on blues/stripers in the Tiverton- Little Compton area?

Check that - they are on the move.
On Sunday's Tuna trip I came around RP on my way out to the grounds and the fish were schooled up big and seriously on the move. Went Tuna Fishing and when we came back inshore in the afternoon the big fish and gannets had already shot down the backside. Lots of schoolies left (and a couple for the grill), but it sure was a sign of the end.

For my tuna report - I got spooled. I've been talking about trying to take a giant on stand-up gear, can't say it was planned, but now I know. That's what 130's are for. At least my charter has a good story.

Default Stand up Tuna

Jay,

I wish I could have seen the look on the guys face when that thing went off. There has got to be a way to get a giant on stand up maybe 50w with hollow core power pro. We'll figure it out over the winter at the meetings maybe make a trip to NC to test it out in Jan.

Rob - I've still got your cell # - I'm just about done with charters, so I can fish on my own a bit now - I'll give you a call this week if you want to come out.
