| Anybody here have experience running in and out of this breach? I have a 23' CC with a single 225 four-stroke that I'm thinking of keeping down there this season and I'm wondering what to expect. Thanks for any feedback. John Gov |

| i've never gone in or out in a boat in ctown breachway, but from fishing the jetty for years i can offer some advice. first, when going out, hug the west or right side as towards the point there are some shallow rocks on the east side. come down the channel easy at first and blow your horn so that people fishing the channel can get there lines in, especially those drifting in the rip out front. be careful for plug rock on the west side just in front of the point - dont hook too soon to the west when going out. dont run in or out too fast, but fast enough to handle the swells. they can get big. good luck.

| I've run it countless times. Like any inlet, the combination of outgoing tide and incoming swell/onshore wind can produce treacherous conditions. Like sea wolf said, there are large boulders flanking the entrance that should be avoided. Stay to the right going out and left coming in. If you're unfamiliar with C'town, I would suggest you drive to the breachway by vehicle and visually inspect it before attempting to pass through in a boat. Better yet, go with someone who knows the place a couple times. I wouldn't launch the boat without doing a little recon as you could find yourself in dangerous conditions at the mouth of the breachway with no room to turn around as the breachway is narrow. On the inside, it’s shallow and narrow, so make sure you follow the marked channel on your way in and out. The plusses include great fishing nearby without a long run. Just make sure you understand the risks. |

| Be careful in a strong outgoing tide and southeast wind, that's when the biggest swells tend to form. There's also one very large rock a couple of hundred yards out the breachway and to the east, that is barely submerged. You'll see waves start to break over it when waves are big enough. Do not turn around once you get to the mouth of the breachway. I have my boat on the pond, and love how close it is to a lot of very productive spots. |
