Thanks for the info NJRIsurfcaster, that makes sense. You are right about the navy thing.

"I was only below the hard deck for a little while, I saw no danger, so I took the shot"

I know I broke a major rule of engagement, but what the hell.

Ok, before you all jump on me, I know it was corny! Just thought it was funny while referencing the Navy base thing.

What is everyones thoughts for this week? Big storm on Saturday and wind through Sunday. I was going to go out Sunday, but with the wind and just after a storm, it would be a wash as last week. So...... are we still waiting for some migration, or have they passed us by? No bait around? Dis they go out to sea? Water on Sunday dropped alot in a week, down to 56 degrees. Love to hear everyones opinion on this.

There have been school bass and blues with some bigger teen size fish mixed in, blitzing all week from beavertail to pt jude (and probably elsewhere). They have been tight to shore in the early morning and evenings but can be found all over just offshore from the boat feeding on top. There are birds everywhere following the schools. The fish are feeding on anchovies and silversides but will eat just about whatever you throw at them. Bigger fish tend to be running "clean up" on the bottom in these areas so don't neglect jigging the bottom if the action appears to be slow. Also, there were hundreds of white sided dolphin following the dragger fleet 2-3 miles off the Narry shore yesterday. Very impressive to see plus they always come to the boat to check you out. From past experience these guys around usually mean herring (or makerel). The large blues were also spitting up large, long, slender baits yesterday which, if this is true it won't be long till the gannets arrive (if not already). Bigger fish are also always around to cash in on the late fall herring runs. This hard SE blow should be a lot of fun tomorrow morning from the beach. Good luck!
