Default Must be over

Judging by the posts or lack there of, the season must be over. It was fun while it lasted, though not as big as I had hoped.

Fish on! Joel

Plenty of small fish still around in the usual late fall spots (Narragansett shore, watch hill, napatree, etc.). 5-6 inch pogies at the coast guard house last night with schoolies on them. Don't give up on big fish yet though. A lot of big fish are caught in November. The fishing tends to be slow but if you do find them they are likely to be bigger than you expect. Your best bet is to look for the bait during the daylight hours. And by bait I mean big bait, herring, makeral, adult pogies. The gannets can be a real asset in trying to pattern the bait during the day and if you have a boat it can't hurt to fish the areas where the gannets are diving. Unlike seagulls and turns which will be diving on all types of bait, big and small the gannets will be diving on schools of larger bait. Herring and makeral usually, but occasionally you'll find them diving on sand eels if they are thick enough. Keep an eye on the breachways and other inlets and fish at night. These are the places you will usually find these larger baits balled up in the mornings and evenings. We have a good moon coming up so get out there and fish!

I think the latest weather is keeping people in too. I am hoping to go out Weds. night if possible, and maybe this weekend. I am in need of a fishing partner if anyone wants to go from the boat? LOL

A fishing report with a little positive news in it should be up soon. I don't think it's magically going to light up around here or anything, but there's at least a few good fish still trickling through the Canal.
