I need everyone reading this to do a big favor - if you head down to the causeway to fish bring a trash bag and pickup the area (even if its not your litter). The city officials get all riled up each squid season about how trashy the place looks. If you keep it clean it will stay open. Let it go and we'll lose it. Spread the word.

Dido, I was under the Newport Bridge last night, and there was a caravan of boats catching squid. Your same Asian friends were there too, and also laughing at us trying to catch squid, but you did better than us. They were catching ones every 5 seconds, and we could not even catch one. Probably did not have the right stuff, so your Asian buddies were laughing at us too. We were out to see if we could even catch a schoolie, but...... no way. Could not catch a damn thing again. Is it too early in the year to give up fishing? If not, can I change my name from Frightnight, to "The Antifisherman"
Or maybe the "Moron Fisherman"? Have to give it some thought, and talk to Pete about changing my screen name here. OK, no fishing for me for two weeks. When I hear the bay has so many bass, you can walk across them, then, I will go out, and with a lot of luck, catch one 8" schoolie? LOL Ok back in two weeks.

Ditto that. I went last night and there was line everywhere. the city put out huge trash bins and no one seems to use them.

Did a little better than a 1/2 bucket on the G2 friday night. Good size to most of them.

Ordered up the 7 billion candlepower green underwater halogen today - we're gonna have squid coming out of our ears.

Got the foodsaver fired up to individually freeze/seal some choice ones.

Default squid

the squid bite is better than ever, and should get better at night towards the end of the weekend, because of the high tide. right now its low tide at night so the bite is not amazing, but my freezer is full and we have 3 strong weeks left. hope everyone is enjoying it

Default Squid Fishing

Never fished with squid or squid fly (or for squid). Where are typically best types of locations- jetty, beach, estuary outflow?? Thanks.
