Default Pre formed cork grips

I don't have a lathe to turn my own grips so I have to get a pre-formed cork grip. What do you guys use if you are in my situation? FishHawk

hi, fishhawk. you will need to get a rasp file to hand bore the internal part of the pre-formed cork grip. you can use it also in a drill, but it bores a lot faster that way. just be sure you know the outside diameter of the thinnest area on the blank where the cork grip will be. then, make sure you order a grip where the internal diameter is not larger than that. be sure to clean the grip out well before epoxying and rough up the area you are epoxying it on. good luck.

Fishhawk, if you want to try cork rings, and don't have a lathe you can use a drill mounted in a clamped stand. Install how many rings you want on a paraffin waxed mandrel, glue each ring together then clamp and tighten in a cork clamp holder.Let dry over night put back into drill stand.Shape with rasp and sand sand with 80 grit.

pre formed cork grips work just fine,,, i have used them for fore grips and handles,,, i have used three small preformed to make up the handle on a surf rod,,, after epoxy, u can form with sand paper or rasp using your wraping turner machine,,, ream the inside diameter with a rasp file or reamer tool, glue it on and shape it to your fit,,,
