Default Spin Casting

Hey guys, & gals, as I know your out there as well. Yeah, I know, but some fishermen do have their significant other as their best friend and fishing buddy.

So I have this release problem, sometimes right and sometimes too high, like most times, so I'm letting my release go early right? My problem is what to do with my index finger? I've tried casting by placing the line diagonally over my index finger, and also by pressing my index finger on the line against the the rod and by running the line vertically the length of the finger and all with about the same results. Poorly ! I always place two fingers forward and two aft of the reel stem too. Which way do you have the best results spin casting? And if you have the time, how is your distance and accuracy rate spincasting with your technique?

Well thanks for your help. I hope I'll find a better way to improve the way I'm not getting it done now. And hey, the plug you help save, could be your own. l'm looking forward to hearing your suggestions.

Thanks all,
Nofish, out !

This is just one of the reasons why I'm coming home with no fish !!!

I would hold the line with your index finger with enough pressure to keep it from running out but not against the rod. and as for releas timing get out durring the day and practice and if possible have some one watch you. Also Ron Arra has a great book out on casting technique.

Hi Rob,

You know I had purchased a Ron Arra video last year but there was only one portion of it that was for spincasting. All his stuff seems dedicated to conventional casting on his videos. The only spincasting clip I've seen doesn't show the proper position of the index finger as the hand covered that part of it wouldn't you know. I'm having trouble being confident with balancing the load on my index that is doing me in lately, especially when going for distance with a three ounce lure anyway. About 180 feet maybe the occasional 200 is all I can get on average, any pushing it after that is when I start getting wild. Any spincasting videos out there that you know are good would be appreciated. Thanks for the reply.
