Orange hood, huh? What is it, some sort of hunting top? Maybe I could spray paint my Aquaskinz Gimp hood flo-orange...

good one, I simply gave my wife the top of the wetsuit and a piece of orange fabric and told her to sew a piece of the fabric on the to the hood and to " Hurry up the tide is dropping"

I was actually thinkin about wetsuit fishing a while back, seems like you can get to certain spots better. Questions for the wetsuit experts like WitchHunter if I may. What do you wear under the wetsuit if anything ? For your feet do ya just wear the divers booties then some form of wadingshoes? In the colder months, when ya come outa the water are you cold? Sorry if the questions are dumb, but I'm considering buying the stuff to get to some spots that i cant hit from the shore. Thx.

Dave, I'm in no way one of the wetsuit experts, but I can tell you what I wear underneath everything. For my feet, I have some 2mm neoprene socks and some 1mm dive socks for warm days. I use the Cabela's Guide Tech wading shoes I listed in an earlier post of mine, but may try the NRS shoes mentioned already as I have heard some positive things about them. I don't wetsuit too late into the season, so cold is not too much of an issue. The water is always pretty warm so I just fill up if I'm cold. If it is cooler, I wear my UnderArmour Cold Gear shirt. I just go with shorts on the bottom half. The only time I was every truly cold was last July on Cutty. Wetsuited all night, then tried to take a nap after sunrise to wait for the ferry back to the mainland. A stiff NE wind kicked up and I FROZE until it passed and the sun really poked out. The memory of almost 12 straight hours of quality fish I had just experienced helped me get through the cold though.

Thx for the info Toby, I might pick up a suit if i can find one to fit my 6'5 250# frame . I'd like a wetsuit for my Rhody fishing, lotta places were it would be beneficial like out at Naps, I always get soaked out there , nothing worse than walking back to the truck wet and cold. Even in NJ, i could use a wetsuit for jetty fishing (probably get laughed at for looking like a sausage ). I dont know about that skishing deal, seems too risky. maybe if I was 21 again, but at 38 with a wife and kids, dont think I'll be trying that anytime soon. Just to be able to get out a bit further at some places without having waders fill up with water seems very appealing to me.

dave s i use from a 3mm in aug/sept to a 7mm farmer john style when skishing or june, july, oct then i turn wossey and use a 5/7mm neoprene dry suit with armor wear to slide in and out easy . plus getting suited in nov,dec is a pleasure when i'am in my heated 11 1/2 slide on camper

i usally only wear bathing suit when in my wet suit, to much stuff to dry out if use more hey what do you mean you gotta be 21 years old i'am forty seven still swimmin strong!!!!!!!!!

tony weakfish is slipping deeper and deeper every year , and will go the way of scotts rock just off the light house that could hold 3 men at one time casting. i have wet suit years back with jack but his wet suit days are over .
paul melnyk introduced me to skishing . paul is without the king of skishing !!!

I remember a evening like 3 or 4 summers ago i was out at M a few points up from ditch an I seen Melnyk. It was still light out as I wanted to see where I was going. He was going out on the point next to me went right to the ledge pretty fast.then popped up on a roc I was in awe i was out on a rock the size of my van, pretty far out an he made me feel stupid. So I make a few cast's an he disappeared i was like O sh!t.Now what do i do.I'm a good 20 mins from anyone/where's.Then he popped up out in the middle of no where's he was floatin out there where eagles fly....
I'm pretty sure i saw him coming in one night riding a wave with a light on. Not sure but who else would be doin that.
i was in awe.
How's he doin since he is down a few digits. I remember he auctioned em off I thought that was hilarious..
