Default did you fish last night (10/2/06)?

Between say 6pm and 11pm? How did you make out? Reports during that time frame from friends between Westport to PJ were all very negative with the skunk making an appearance in some cases. Another friend of mine was in the boat all day yesterday with nothing over 15 pounds, while the previous day they enjoyed fish to 40 pounds on plugs in the same exact spots they fished the day before.

Was it the cloudy water from all the rain? The moon glaring down? The fish taking a break from the bender they were on the day before? Something else?

Just trying to figure out the trigger for the bad fishing. Did anyone catch? Anyone else also find previously productive spots that had fallen silent? If so where (approx.) were you and what were the conditions?

That's not the post I was hoping to see Pete. I went Sunday night after the downpour in NPT and got one short. I moved to different spots to locate fish. NADA

Moony... nice white water...
fed eels to bluefish from 730 to 9, move to deep moving water and got the skunk till 1030, watched the second half of MNF at home..
for me its a combo of moon and tide... I hate low tide

I was out around wesport from around 5-8. Nothin but shorts. Water was still a bit dirty and a good bit of weed where I was fishing. Disappointing to say the least but at least I didn't get the total skunk

Newport resumed giving up giant fish to boat anglers today. I know of at least 1 confirmed 50 and rumor of another...

Hey Pete,
Where in Newport? Plugs, bait, magic, what are being used?

Bait I would imagine, and offshore and deep near the reef for those big fish. If the forecast wasn't so grim I would definitely be 3-waying eels for the next few days from the boat.

And nothing anywhere near that good from shore. Fished tonight briefly from 8 till slack tide. Hit a couple spots, just a couple schoolies on Dannys and a Hogy on a PJ Wobble Head which after an hour in the water finally got lopped off by teeth. Earl did hook something of quality on the trusty white Beachmaster "Musso wad" needlefish that ripped some line off for a while before popping off.
