In SoCO it can be murder around the breaches and popular spots, but most of the non Breachway spots are ungagooned in the mid-watch hours...
as far as the fish-steppers we have run into them.. just tell em if they do that again I'm doing to step on their head
usually works..
their defense... "I dont want my hands to smell...."

i bring the factor with me, including a 10000 watt lantern that pointed directly at the surf, a full bore headlight, glow stick and bells for the rod. you just can't be too sure. also when i drive the beach i point my truck 90° towards the water for a little extra light.

saw a dude in SOCO last weekend with the spinning reel up side down. He was a Googan Master.

Saw basically the same thing, guy fishing a VS upside down (reel on top) reeling backwards with his right hand, never mind the reel but now the rod guides are on top and your fighting a fish with the spine of the rod flexing the wrong way. He said to someone that he's always fished that way HELLO time to get with the program and use your gear the appropriate way. Why even get nice gear if you want to remain a goog?

Oh yeah,

They are all out there allright. Went to soco the last couple of days with no luck. There was some bait activity in the area but just too far to reach as usual. East beach looked like Daytona out there. Once it gets cold though the numbers decrease dramatically. We just have to hit our secret spots until then. Two guys set up next to me on the beach with a boom box and a camping light which could have lit up your your house. Nofish was out of there in a heartbeat.
