Storms only. Like Bart said, if there's a larger fish in the school, it will take the storm over most other offerings.
I just rigged up my 10 weight too, so I'll carry that plus a spinner with the storms.

SCHOOLIES??!!??

Don't fish for them, i prefer to wait on the Big GURLS

To each his own, not that fishing for schoolies is a baaad thing,
just not my choice for wear and tear on my aging shoulder and joints.

Come on BassDawg, you have to embrace the entire season! Life's to short.

At least in Newport part of the reason I go catch a few schoolies is the social scene. I usually see some guys that I won't cross paths with again on the water for quite a while since soon we'll mostly be under the cover of darkness.

Always a good time bs'ing in the parking lot and watching someone in waders get greedy and stay out too long on the choice rock off 2nd beach all in the name of 16" fish...

From that perspective, PeteG, it DOES sound good.

However, i am currently dealing with a "shoulder situation" that
may cause me to have a later start than i would normally go for.

It is becoming increasingly difficult to perform my daily duties at work as a result. I am under the care of an excellent chiro that does deep tissue and trigger point *brutality* to the traumatised area and she saved my left shoulder a couple of years ago. If all goes well, it should take about 6-8 weeks of manipulation, and limited use, and stretching to get me back on track.

Last year i held off until June mostly because i prefer not to target that portion of the migration and slightly because my shoulder ~due to years of Ironwork~ only has sooo many casts per season. When not inflamed, i'm good to go, but very choosy on any popping mechanics! This year it looks like July, unless i decide to go under the knife, then who KNOWS???

I would also enjoy the comraderie very much and hear ya about the "craziness" over shorties. I may be forced to miss out on the "fun" of Schoolies Fever, as this year may be a year of fishing smarter/not harder, with only a limited number of casts available to me damaged wing .

The other alternative is to go opposite shoulder. In that event, then i will need all the schoolies and bent barbs i can muster to train my opposite side for the later months and BIGGER GURLS .

None of the above. I love surface poppers. But white jigs would be my choice from that list. I fly fish mostly..so a chartreuse and white clouser is my pick!
