Default A new season...

With the new season upon us what is everyone hoping to do differently? This is my second real year in the surf and just like last year I'm hoping to fish eels more. I'd also like to fish bucktails more often. I'm hoping to somehow manage buying a nice 8 or 9wt fly rod & reel by the end of the season as well. And I really want to actually follow through on keeping a journal this year.

What are you all looking forward to doing differently in '08

I'm with you on the eels...always have a plug at the end of my line, i just dont get around to em. Maybe this season. As far as logs, maybe I'll grab one of those new journals here. I usually keep logs in my pda. But I somehow lost 07 when my phone's network crashed.

I also want to get my wife back on the water. She's been mia for a couple of seasons.

This year I plan on getting out more often. The best way for me to insure that happens is to plan. Days ahead, chose time ,location, tides, wind. A little rain doesn't matter. Frankly, a little rain and a little wind from the right direction yeilds elbow room and fish.
As the folks at SWE can attest I've got lots of new plugs in the arsenal.
I do use the eels occasionaly but I guess in truth I enjoy the 'hunt' with artificials.
A little night boating too !!!! Ya hear that Frightnight !

More eels
More fly fishing
More kayaking
More bait fishing
More fishing outside of Narragansett
More fishing for things that don't have stripes (find my trusty white bucket and fish for fluke/scup/blackfish from shore, it's been too long)
More fun

More fishing in general, I would like to log 200+ days this season.

Well, I hope to do what many have already said. At first, I hated eels, but now I love them, so, yes, fish more eels, Really going to keep a log this tear. I fish mostly from my boat, so will be easy. Going to try to expand my area of spots. I love for the hunt for stripers, but am going to fish a few other species once in awhile also, and Yes Saltwaterhabits,,, I hear you, and when ever you ready, we will get out there. If you have the duration to hang with me???? hahahaha

catch a lot, keep a few, big plugs-slow and fish closer to the bottom when practical, get my kids out a lot more....fish all of the crappiest weather all season, that's when it's really fun...routine, combine exercise-1 mile walk to the beach, suit up and hop rocks far an hour or two to see the sun rise as many mornings as possible...
