I went up to Providence area once, did very well, went the next day, and got skunked. My friend went there a few nights, nothing. I went to Wickford Harbor,,,,nothing,,,, last week, all over Taunton River,,,nothing,,, then,, all over Bristol, had one keeper one day, and that was it. Then back to Bristol and Sakonnet next day, ,,,,nothing,,, then back to Bristol, Sakonnet, Melville, Newport, Jamestown, for like 12 hours yesterday, in a boat also, trying to get some fish on board for my visiting brother in law, and his sons,,,,,,,,,,Nothing,,, SKUNKED!!! SO,,, to me,,, feels like the fall run I have heard so much about. Should be lots of fish to catch, but nothing??? Like I here the last 2 fall runs, and expect to hear this year too.
"Have they already gone past us? Do they go out to sea? " The imaginery fall run...lol. Feels the same way to me. Hear there should be fish now, it's going to be great,,,blah, blah,, and nothing. I speak to many guys on boats, and all the ramps, and none of them are catching anything!!! As someone just mentioned..it's not from lack of trying. I have fished with 4 different veterans that have been fishing for a minumim of 20 years, and none of us caught anything,,,so did the bait go north, and take the fish with them? Should I charge the motorcycle battery, and ride that instead? Pull the Vette out of the garage , wax it up????

Default should look in a new spot

I always hear people posting that the fish are gone, where is the bait, did they already go north. Try fishing in new spots, and just cause you have fished 20years doesn't mean your an expert. Even Sig Hanson off deadliest catch tried new spots. The fish, and bait are still at the mouth of the bay on all sides. I went out last night, and there was so much bait I sat in amazement. So the fish, and bait are definetly still here. I even heard people getting more squid yesterday than when the "run" was here. So there is still plenty of action, and fish. Just follow the birds.

Who said we did not try new spots? You happened to be the one guy who seen the bait outside the bay, everyone else was looking others places I guess. Still does not change what me and obviously other people who have posted here have experienced.

Default not trying to offend

Frightnight, I wasn't trying to offend you in the least. I will be more blunt. With gas prices high, and everything else. The mouth of the bay is a great place for a lot of bait. There is no need to drive all over the place, and waste gas. Thats all , I guess I came off wrong. I spent the weekend near the mouth of each side of newport, and saw a lot of bass caught with tons of bait.

7 Milebridge,
No offense at all, sorry, I too came across that way. I just wish you had my number to call me when you seen all that bait. Would have saved gas, and more importatly caught fish. Its just starting, I will make up for it. Take care.
