| Congrats guys and nice work. You guys fish a lot harder and are more skilled than some of the other teams give you credit for. And on the topic of the MS tourney, has it ever been suggested that the fall tournament be open to all state waters like the spring one? The spring tournament is just more enjoyable for that reason, there's not five casters at every spot from Narragansett to Watch Hill. But that would mean you guys get to fish Newport in the fall too, gasp. Because thats why you guys win ![]()

There's rumor of at least having weigh stations up this way and with gas prices the way they are likely to be in the fall it would be great to be able to fish our home territory and not have to travel so far and throw tokens at the bridges with each crossing. Were you fishing for RISAA or Narragansett Surfcasters? |

| For those who aren't sure what we're talking about in both the spring and in fall in Rhode Island there is the infamous "Surf Fishing Club Challenge". If nothing else it's a great excuse to fish like a maniac, meet up with your fellow fisherman on the water and at the awards breakfast, and have a bit of friendly competition. Even more importantly also raises money, usually for the Multiple Sclerosis Society. But you have to belong to a fishing club to take part. Which is definitely worth your time considering you'll generally meet new people to fish with as well as shorten your learning curve, improve your fishing skills, and meet new friends as wild about fishing as you are. |

| I fished for RISAA Pete, Narragansett Surfcasters really isn't my cup of tea. Unfortunately I only was able to contribute a half assed effort due to lack of time and energy. That's great news about the weigh stations. It's a step in the right direction to having no boundaries. I know fishing South County is a tournament tradition, but it is definitely time for a change. After the absolute weather enduced crap show last year's tournament was I would have killed to be able to fish the bay or something. It would definitely level the playing field and contrary to popular belief some of the South County regulars like to fish over your way as well. Myself being one of them. Now if only the breachway rats can be convinced. . . Once again great going guys, I would be lying if I said you didn't deserve it.

| Arden, obviously math wasn't your strong point. I'm not religious but I'll go to church and light a candle in hopes that they open it to all of RI for the fall tournament. Last year hours before the fall tournament, the Bobcat and I went for a swim in the wetsuits and had enough fish to win the tournament in just a few hours. Had to release all the fish, get in the truck and cross the bridge to go fish somewhere else. That sucked. ![]() |

| Here is the official breakdown of the tourney results from RISAA: This weekend was probably the best for fishing that we have had in the five years of the spring, SFCC. The weights submitted and the attendance at the Awards Breakfast reflected this. We more than doubled our usual donation for MS. I want to thank all of the eleven teams that donated, and a special thanks to those that made it to the Breakfast. It makes it much more meaningful for award recipients to have their fellow anglers at the breakfast. I think we had about 50-60 there on Sunday. Jim Rubovits was there to receive our donations for the MS Society. Jim is an avid fly fisherman and is on the MS Board of Trustees. He really enjoyed the event. Following are the stats: 1st Place--Newport County Salt Water Fishing Club--110.30 lbs. 2nd Place--RISAA--102.30 lbs. 3rd Place--CT Surfcasters--74.59 lbs. 4th Place--Narragansett Surfcasters--52.2 lbs. 5th Place--RIMS--28.79 lbs. No other weights submitted. Cameron & Watts Award for Largest Striper--Robert Taylor--Newport County--33.56 lbs. Largest Bluefish--Rich Morris--CT Surfcasters--12.58 lbs. Honorable Mention: Bob Jordan--RISAA--30.70 lb. striper Dick Geldard--RISAA--28.10 lb. striper Dennis Zambrotta--Newport County--26.98 lb. striper (Bluefish weights helped secure the win for Newport County as Striper weights were very similar between the top two club finishers. Those dastardly bluefish.) Total Donations to the MS Society: $3733.36 Wow! Tackle/Prize Donations for Awards Breakfast: Breachway Bait and Tackle in Charlestown--Rod & Reel Combo Snug Harbor Marina in East Matunuck--$75 Gift Certificate Quaker Lane Bait & Tackle in North Kingstown--Surf Rod Erickson's Bait & Tackle in Warwick--Rod & Reel Combo Edward's Bait & Tackle in Newport--Knife Set CT Surfcasters--Signed Photo by Krazy Alberto. RISAA--Assorted Tackle to supplement raffle. Thanks to All. Remember to Support Your Local Tackle Shop. See you all in the fall or next spring. If your club does not have the contact info for the sponsor of the fall SFCC, and wishes to participate, contact Jim McKeough at JDMCKEOUGH@aol.com. | Great work guys! Congratulations. Everytime (both) I fish these events I am greatly impressed how great a gulf separates the novices like me from those that really know what they are doing. Hat's off to Mr Wonderful Rob Taylor and Yodaman DZ! CJ |
