Default Big eels

How big is to big? I have a eel pot near my house and I seem to keep catching the same eel ( I alway let it go ) which is at least 18 to 20" long and very fat. Is it worth trying to use it or just catch it and relocate it to another part of the river?

You can use them that big, but it sounds like that one wants to be your friend. Keeps coming back to see you.

I'd use it, or keep letting it go. It will relocate on it's own when it's ready to move on.

its ironic this post has started... Just yesterday I picked up 6 eels at a local B&T and one of them WAS enormous!! I was so excited to hook it on ... was very difficult to cast... 5 minutes... bump bump.... set the hook and reel in a bass SHORTER than the eel. go figure

Skin it. Unless by now you consider it a pet.

I don't think my wife would really understand the though of keep an eel as a pet, I guess it will have to come out with me for an early morning breakfast over the weekend.

You still have it? Definately cast it out to catch large if not send it my way to be cast or skinned for a plug.
