Default Wetsuit Question.

I have a 3mm wetsuit i got this summer for fishin in jersey, my question is, is there anything i can do to be warmer without buying a new suit? Wearing my simms over top of it helps alot, but my legs get cold. I was thinking that maby wearing spandex or underamor tights underneath would help, but then agian, maby it would hold more cold water in? Anyone have any experiance with this?

a thin layer of underarmor or wet suit liner will help you stay warmer , but even that will not help as water starts dipping lower in temp .

i use to use a 3 ml suit up until dec 15th at montauk when i was mucjh younger and stupid ( remember a guy asking if i was ok, as i lay on the rocky beach cupping the family jewels that felt like a horse kicked em they were so cold )

i'am now donning a 7mm neoprene dry suit (toasty)

keep em warm you'll be lost without" em !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am headin out to montauk on friday for the weekend, and wondering if my wetsuit would be enough to keep me warm. Im skinny so i get cold pretty easy, but it really hasnt been too cold out so i think i should be fine this weekend with a 3mm some underarmour and a simms on. Cant wait to get out fishin, im in college and only get to fish once every few weeks.

Well I was wetsuiting in Rhody this week and the water is in the mid-50's...
water was fine for 3mm BUT the air was cold when the wind blows and thats when I get the shivers...
I recommend a 1mm liner under and I throw my dry top over my suit to keep my torso warm...
last night was toasty though... w/o the liner and drytop.. all about the air temp for me...

After hearing Craig bragging about being able to get out of his 7mm drysuit "and still feel like a man" on cold nights I'm thinking about a drysuit too.

with the drysuit, the only exposure is hands-feet and head correct? What is the minimum MM for a dry suit. Summer would have to be tough with a drysuit?

opted to skip the wetsuit and wear my waders most of the weekend. It was so freakin cold out there, i wouldent have survived our all night treck along the south side on friday. My friend matt wore his 5 mm and said he was warm. I did wear my wetsuit on sat night when we fished shinecock inlet. INlets with ripping waters scare me when i have waders on, so i busted out the wetsuit. My legs were a lil chilly, but other than that i was fine. I wore my 3mm wetsuit, and i wore a 1.5 mm wetsuit top that my dad uses for surfing, then a simms. My chest was toasty. Now, if only the fish would have cooperated........
I did get some really nice photos, when the fish arent biting, i take out my camera.

witchhunter, did u manage any decent fish this weekend?

best was only a 15-17 lbr in the dark sunrise under the light brought a hugh flock of birds over a big school of bass at times so think you had to stop casting (as your buck tail was bounced off one fishes back to the next, want till they passed a instant hook up !! only problem they were cut from the same mold 8-10 lbrs still on white bait this late in the season go figure??????
