Default Redondo Beach CA Fishing Spots

Folks, I have a business trip to Rodondo Beach next week. The meetings are going to be very technical and quite boring. In order to try and keep my sanity I am planning to bring my fly rod. Has anyone fished in this area before? If so any suggestions on what types of fly's to bring? The most recent edition of Salt Water Flyfishing had an article on fly fishing for halibut so I will give this a shot. If anyone here has any other suggestions please let me know.

I will be doing sigificant travel in '07 and am going to try and bring my gear as often as possible. It might be interesting to get feedback and reports from other areas as some of us may end up there periodically.

Mark there is a company that cools some kind of engines in the water out there. when I was a kid my uncle used to take me there and we would nail yellowtail and bonita in the warmer water, as far as the halibut we would head out from Del mar, They feed on the bottom we used to use small cut up squid.

You might want to try fishing from Marina Del Rey for Halibut. I went out on a charter boat called Spitfire had a blast caught 3 nice halibut and many more were caught on the boat. Spitfire also has a little kittchen area, they make an awsome breakfast burito and have ice cold beer. I'll go again nest time I'm out there for sure. They have tackle you can use or bring you gear. Good luck!
