Default Line Break

Edge,

At what point did the line keep breaking? What Brand is the line? What knots where you using for connections? and how long ago was the line put on the reel?

We should be able to get to the bottom of this... Also, have you checked your guides carefully? a small nick in one of the guides could cause this frustrating problem.

Could be any of the things Chris mentioned. How big were the blues? Go to 20lb mono or braid which is awesome stuff. Some good braids are Fireline, powerpro, and Tuffline.

Big blues just love to break stuff. If you walk the beach a morning after a day of blitzing blues you'll often find plugs littering the shoreline.

Could other fish be nicking your line while you're fighting the fish you have on? It's a common cause of lost gear when fishing for aggressively feeding bluefish.

Myself, I'd go up to 20# test if you're fishing mono. Fishing for blitzing bluefish isn't usually finesse fishing.
