Default Ernesto's whitewater

I've caught some good fish in some really spectacular whitewater. And I know I've lost some giants in dangerous, vicious whitewater, especially at the breachways. But I rarely have great fishing when it's as big as it is now, partly because of landing issues. Without being near the edge I have trouble successfully landing fish that I can't just drag up. The waves are beyond the stage where they help me land fish.

Sometimes I think half the appeal of fishing in big conditions is just challenging yourself as much as the possibility of big fish. I'm not really even convinced conditions this big are even that good for fishing anyways, nevermind the landing issues. I know Steve McKenna just did a presentation saying he prefers to fish before and especially after a storm, and I'd have to say I agree.

Going out in the peak of the storm just seems to not be worth the effort for me, other then to test myself, which I certainly enjoy...

Thoughts?

There is a limit of diminishing returns.Although I know they did pretty good yesterday morning in a area between here an where u are. In some very difficult conditions.
After a storm here in NJ there are some options but they are limited weed can be be a big problem here as it makes a productive presentation difficult.Dirty water doesn't help either. As we get more runoff then u guys do.
In ur area u still have big water an area's that will be fishable..
I'd be fishing..
Outflows after a high rain in fall where the bait gets flushed can be very good.I wish I could have seen that presentation as I am not generally a fan of after storm conditions.I need to be convinced

Good presentation with pics of dead fish caught on easterly blows. He covered the basics on storm fishing, good stuff for fishing this time of year.
